Temperatures reach 260F on the bright side of the moon and -280F on the dark side. It has been hit by millions of meteorites but it has never failed. It is always there, orbiting the Earth when we see it and when we don’t. The gravity provides us with protection from meteorites and creates life sustaining tides on earth but even so, we are moving away from the moon at the rate of about one inch per year.
Artists from Michelangelo to Rembrandt; religious figures from Adam and Eve to Jesus; composers from Johan Sebanstian Bach to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky; political leaders from George Washington to Abraham Lincoln; musicians from Elvis Presley to Mick Jagger; from Kings and Queens to the homeless on the streets, black or white, tall or short, large or small, we have all looked to the moon in wonder.
The moon is a common focal point for humanity and it is eclipsed by neither time or space. It provides us with comfort and safety. If God’s moon can do all of that, imagine what can happen if we move an inch closer His Son.
